WELCOME TO GUINCHO RACING

Two complete novices. One iconic Range Rover. A mission to take on the world’s greatest classic rallies.

In 2025, Matt Skeggs and Tom Lloyd Owen will go from absolute beginners to full-fledged rally drivers, transforming a 1991 Range Rover Classic V8 into a rally beast. In 2026, they’ll take on some of the biggest and toughest classic rallies across the UK, Europe, and Africa, including an epic recreation of the original Dakar Rally route from France to Senegal.

Guincho Racing is fast, fearless, and fuelled by adventure. Join us for the ride.

Number One driver

MATT SKEGGS

Crashing a Subaru Impreza during his early days as a race driver really secured a love for pushing the limits. Matt won the 2025 London Rally Championships to secure his top spot as Guincho’s Racing lead driver for the inaugural season.

Matt’s car highlights

– Vauxhall Nova 1.2i (half owned with his mum until he crashed it)
– Mk 5 ford escort convertible
– Nissan Primera (also eventually crashed)
– Mk 2 Golf GTi (miraculously never crashed).
– MG ZS – basically a Rover 45 with a V6 engine
– 2004 BMW Z4
– Mini Cooper – squashed by a tree in a typhoon in Hong Kong
– Mk 5 Golf GTI
– 2022 Volvo XC 40 that his wife almost exclusively drives
– 1991 Range Rover Classic 3.9l V8

Number Two Driver

TOM LLOYD OWEN

Learning to drive in a field when he was 13 years old set Tom up for a life time of car obsession, restoring old classic cars and spending time in the wildest parts of deserts and forests in 4×4’s makes Tom the ideal second driver (even if he was actually fastest in the 2025 London Rally Championship, but just spun on the last corner…)

If Tom can’t be lead driver he has self awarded himself Chief Mechanic at Guincho racing, meaning almost all breakdowns and failures will be his responsibility to ignore for as long as possible or until they go away.

Tom’s car highlights:

– 1992 Mk2 VW Polo
– 1981 Triumph Spitfire 1500
– 2008 Mini Cooper S John Works
– 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero
– 2001 Land Rover Defender td5 – Ventura @4low4adventure
– 1983 Land Rover Series 3
– 1991 Range Rover Classic 3.9l V8
